Lucia Tenny

of Lafayette High School!

Lucia has excelled during her high school years. As a Missouri Bright-Flight scholar, she has maintained impressive academics while also staying involved in her school and community. Whether it is as Swim and Dive team captain, as President of the Best Buddies club for special needs peers, or teaching swim lessons in her local community, she leads with passion! She will attend the University of Southern Indiana in August for a Bachelor degree in nursing. 

"Higher education is valuable to enable people to pursue a career that matches their gifts and abilities... I want to be that calm in the storm for patients and their families as they are navigating medical uncertainties."

Our 2024 recipient was Jwan Alshati

of Seckman High School!

Jwan is a dedicated student, both academically and in extracurriculars including National Honor Society, FCCLA and Letterman's Club.  Her volunteer endeavors include Character Kids Club and National Institute of Refugee and Immigration Services of St. Louis. She will attend university in August for a Bachelor degree in nursing. 

"I came into America from Iraq at the age of 6. My parents had to restart their degrees through community college and from that, I learned that everyone has the ability to forge their destiny and make a profound impact on the world around them...Joining the nursing program [will] continue my education to specialize in mental health work for children."

Our 2023 recipient was Madalyn Kandlbinder

of Union High School! 

Maddie is an outstanding student and role model. During highschool she was employed part-time at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO as a Nutrition Services Representative. While overcoming various obstacles, she maintained a 4.3 GPA and high engagement in school extracurriculars such as Country Kids 4H and Key Club. As a first-generation college student, she will attend Missouri Baptist University in August for a Bachelor degree in nursing. 

 

"I plan to use my higher education to ensure that no patient every feels like they are misunderstood...When you are a nurse, each day you will touch a life or a life will touch yours."

Our 2022 inaugural recipients are from

Fox Senior High Schooll !

In the inaugural year eligibility was limited to applicants from Fox Senior High School, with applications completed on paper only.  Since our website did not exist during the pilot award cycle, recipients were not approached for consent to be featured on the website. Therefore, the 2022 awardees remain anonymous. 

We hope our scholarship continues to grow in its potential to impact those who impact others as it has since 2022! Two recipients were able to be awarded scholarships through generous donations*.

 

*Donations to the scholarship fund are always directed to awards in the current award cycle, or the next. When funds are available, multiple recipients may be chosen for a single award cycle. For information about making donations, contact us above.
